Professional Learning

What Is AAIC's Professional Learning Program?

Quality professional learning is the most powerful investment a school can make. When teachers grow, students grow. When leaders grow, schools grow. But not all professional development is created equal - and the one-day workshop model that dominates the field simply does not work.

AAIC's Professional Learning and Leadership Training program is different. We deliver customized, ongoing, job-embedded professional development that is aligned to your school's specific instructional priorities, grounded in what research says works, and designed to build lasting capacity - not dependency.

From instructional coaching and data-informed teaching to leadership development and Title compliance training, AAIC is a true thought partner for school leaders committed to continuous improvement.

Our Approach

1

Leadership Needs Assessment

AAIC begins with a collaborative needs assessment with school leadership - identifying instructional priorities, teacher strengths and growth areas, and leadership development goals.

2

Customized PD Plan Development

Based on the needs assessment, AAIC develops a professional learning plan aligned to the school's goals, calendar, and available time for professional development.

3

Professional Development Workshops

AAIC facilitates high-quality, hands-on professional development workshops - on topics from differentiated instruction and data-informed teaching to classroom management and family engagement.

4

Ongoing Instructional Coaching

AAIC coaches work with individual teachers and teams through observation, co-planning, modeling, and feedback cycles - building capacity over time.

5

Leadership Coaching & Support

Principals and school leaders receive coaching and thought partnership on instructional leadership, data use, staff development, and school improvement planning.

6

Progress Review & Plan Adjustment

AAIC regularly reviews the impact of professional learning with school leadership, adjusting the plan based on data and emerging priorities.

How We Show Up
at Your School

Every program is deployed with consistency, care, and clear communication with school leadership from day one.

On-site and embedded delivery

Professional learning is delivered at your school - during professional development days, common planning periods, or before/after school - minimizing the logistics burden on staff.

Teacher-centered design

AAIC's professional learning is designed around teacher needs and adult learning principles - collaborative, active, relevant, and immediately applicable.

Classroom-connected coaching

Instructional coaches work in classrooms - observing, co-teaching, and providing real-time feedback - not just in conference rooms.

Data-driven approach

AAIC uses student performance data, teacher observation data, and self-assessment tools to focus professional learning where it will have the greatest impact on student outcomes.

Title II eligible

Professional learning, instructional coaching, and leadership training are primary allowable uses of Title II-A Supporting Effective Instruction funds. AAIC provides complete compliance documentation.

Common Questions

How is AAIC's professional learning different from a typical PD day?

AAIC's professional learning is customized, ongoing, and job-embedded - not a one-size-fits-all workshop. We start with your school's specific priorities and design learning experiences that are directly relevant to your teachers and students. We follow up with coaching, data review, and ongoing support - building real capacity over time.

Is professional development eligible for Title II funding?

Yes. Title II-A Supporting Effective Instruction funds are specifically designed to fund high-quality professional development, teacher coaching, and leadership training. Nonpublic schools are entitled to equitable services under Title II. AAIC provides complete documentation to support compliance.

How much time do teachers need to commit?

AAIC designs professional learning to fit within your school's existing schedule - including professional development days, common planning time, and staff meetings. We do not require teachers to give up additional personal time. The amount and structure of PD time is determined collaboratively with school leadership.

Can AAIC support school leadership as well as teachers?

Yes. AAIC provides leadership coaching and support for principals and school leaders - including instructional leadership development, data coaching, and thought partnership on school improvement planning. Strong teacher development starts with strong leadership.

What topics does AAIC cover in professional development?

AAIC's professional development topics include differentiated instruction, data-informed teaching, reading and math intervention strategies, classroom management, family engagement, Universal Design for Learning, culturally responsive teaching, technology integration, and Title compliance. Topics are selected based on each school's specific priorities.

How do you measure the impact of professional development?

AAIC tracks the impact of professional learning through a combination of teacher observation data, student performance data, and teacher self-assessment. We share regular progress reports with school leadership and adjust our approach based on evidence of impact.
