Summer Support
Programs
Structured summer programs designed to reinforce academic skills, prevent learning loss, and provide continued engagement through instruction, enrichment, and targeted intervention.
What Are Summer Support Programs?
Summer learning loss - often called the 'summer slide' - is a significant challenge for students, especially those who began the school year below benchmark. Research shows that students can lose up to two to three months of reading and math skills over the summer.
AAIC's Summer Support Programs are designed to stop that slide - and go further, giving students the opportunity to accelerate their learning before the new school year begins.
Our summer programs combine structured academic instruction in reading and math with enrichment activities, student engagement strategies, and a positive, confidence-building environment. Every program is customized to your school's student population and goals.
Our Approach
Pre-Summer Assessment
Students are assessed at the end of the school year to identify which students would benefit most from summer support and what skills to prioritize.
Structured Academic Instruction
Daily sessions include focused reading and math instruction using evidence-based approaches, targeting each student's specific skill gaps.
Enrichment & Engagement
Academic instruction is paired with enrichment activities - including fine arts, STEAM, and student choice time - to keep students engaged and motivated.
Small Group Differentiation
Students are grouped by skill level and need, ensuring instruction is targeted and appropriate for each learner.
Post-Program Assessment
At program completion, students are reassessed to measure growth and prepare data for the incoming school year's teachers.
School-Year Transition Planning
AAIC shares summer program data and student progress summaries with school leadership to inform fall instructional planning.

Common Questions
How long are AAIC's summer programs?
Program length is customized based on school needs and funding - typically ranging from 4 to 8 weeks. AAIC works with school leadership to design a schedule that maximizes participation and impact.
Can summer programs be funded through Title I?
Yes. Summer extended learning programs are an allowable use of Title I funds. AAIC provides complete documentation to support compliance.
What grade levels do summer programs serve?
AAIC's summer programs serve students in grades K-8, with specialized programming available for upper elementary and middle school students.
How do you select which students participate?
Participation decisions are made collaboratively with school leadership, typically prioritizing students who are below benchmark in reading and/or math and who would benefit most from continued instruction over the summer.
Do summer programs only focus on academics?
No. AAIC's summer programs integrate enrichment activities - including arts, STEAM, and student choice time - alongside academic instruction. This keeps students engaged and builds the whole child, not just academic skills.
What happens at the end of the summer program?
AAIC provides schools with a post-program report including student growth data, attendance, and recommendations for fall instruction. This helps incoming teachers start the year with clear, actionable data about each student.
